WHAT IS SEARCH?
Search, stated simply, is a young adult Christian leadership formation program. The weekend is an encounter with Christ in a Christian community made up of people like yourself. It is a weekend of learning, sharing, Christian joy and, most importantly, spiritual growth. The dynamic of the weekend is young adults sharing with other young adults.
DOES SEARCH CONTINUE AFTER THE WEEKEND?
Search is a continuing program' which lasts for the rest of your life or, as we refer to it, your "Fourth Day". There are many aids given to candidates which promote spiritual growth and community involvement.
Search is committed to a strong and involving Follow-up program.
IS IT A RETREAT?
No.
Search is not a retreat. Nor is it meant to replace retreats in an individual's spiritual life.
Search recognizes the valuable necessity retreats play in spiritual growth and encourages regular attendance.
IS SEARCH BETTER THAN A RETREAT?
They are not the same and should not be compared. A comparison is analogous to a carpenter who uses a screwdriver and hammer; different tools used to accomplish the same result--fastening something together.
WHAT CAN SEARCH DO FOR ME?
Search can lead you to a new beginning through an initially deeper appreciation of the faith given to us by Christ. It cannot give faith-the experience is limited only by the candidate's own attitude and capabilities.
CAN ANYONE MAKE A SEARCH?
Ideally, you should be sponsored by a friend or relative who already made a
Search. If you don't know anyone who made a
Search, someone from the
Search community will act as your sponsor. You must be at least 18 years of age to make a
Search weekend.
WHAT DOES SEARCH EXPECT FROM A CANDIDATE?
Search expects the candidate to use the growth experienced on the weekend to establish themselves in their parishes as leaders serving their pastors in a way that suits their individual talents and strengths, thereby strengthening the entire Christian community.
IS SEARCH A RECOGNIZED PROGRAM?
Yes.
Search is recognized by the Diocese of Orange as a valuable program for Christian leadership formation.
