Just a quick note from Northern California to say it is nice to see Search is going strong. It is amazing that I have been gone from Orange County for thirteen years. I look back at my week end (Search 98) and the numerous ones that followed that I worked on, and time has flown by. To all of those who remember me through the good times and the bad, you were a major part of my life experience. I will never forget those New Years Eve parties in the Costa Mesa neighborhood that had no parking. To all of you that are new to search enjoy the time and the experiences you share together, they will carry you through the good times and the bad. Look through the Planca gifts, and treasure those. To those who might remember, please feel free to email, and I will catch up.-------Richard Horak (530) 671-1772Richard Horak (

NEW YOUNG ADULT GROUP AT ST. TIMOTHY PARISH IN LAGUNA NIGUEL
A new young adult group, Refuge, has begun meeting at St. Timothy Parish in Laguna Niguel. As it's first major event, Refuge is participating in the parish's Lenten event "The Purpose Driven Life". Through small discussion groups and sharings, the community will be separated by age group and will begin to discover what God's purpose for them is. To kick off the Lenten journey, Refuge is participating in a singles potluck on Friday, February 4th at 6 pm. After dinner, a series of talks will set the foundation for the Lenten journey that will begin the following week. Meetings begin on Ash Wednesday at 7 pm at St. Timothy Parish (29102 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel, 92677, at the intersection of Nueva Vista).
Refuge is for young adults between the ages of 21-35 and hopes to fulfill the following Mission Statement within our parish:
"We hope to strengthen our Catholic identity by living our faith through scripture, joyful worship, compassionate outreach and fellowship with one another. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we plan to nurture the faith of one another to become mature followers of Jesus Christ and to gain a better understanding of what being a Catholic means."
For more information and to be placed on the distribution list, e-mail St.Tims-Refuge@prodigy.net or if you have questions contact Nora Jans at 949-716-3741 or lttlft@yahoo.com. If you want to participate in The Purpose Driven Life event, contact Nora ASAP. God Bless!Nora Jans (

Hi SEARCH-ers! I hope everyone is having a blessed Lent to prepare for Holy Week, Easter, ... and Divine Mercy Sunday! Have you all heard about Divine Mercy Sunday? The month I entered the Catholic Church fully, April 2000, St. Faustina was canonized, and the Sunday after Easter was more fully recognized as Divine Mercy Sunday! You guys have probably seen the beautiful image of our Lord as the risen Merciful Savior, with the rays of blood and water coming towards us from His Sacred Heart. And maybe also you have prayed the beautiful Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Well this retreat will be wonderful because we'll all learn what the Divine Mercy devotion is all about, and be prepared by the Oblates of the Virgin Mary to receive all the graces Jesus wants to shower on us for Divine Mercy Sunday! Hope to see you there! God bless.
+ DIVINE MERCY: INCOMPREHENSIBLE MYSTERY
"...I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: first - by deed, the second - by word, the third - by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is un unquestionable proof of love for Me. By these means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy..." It is time again for the Annual Lenten Pilgrimage!
Every year, Una Voce of Orange County sponsors this 14 mile penitential journey from St Michael's Abbey in Silverado to Serra Chapel in San Juan Capistrano Mission. There is ample opportunity for confessions, prayer and reflection, not to mention mortification in penance for our sins and those of the whole world. For more information, please go to

p.s. Please help us get the word out about this event - forward this email to anyone you think might be interested. It may inspire someone!

A special "thank you" to John & Audrey Cone for their wonderful sharing on Marriage As A "Calling" at the February 19th Follow-Up. Thanks to all who showed their support of John & Audrey as we celebrated their upcoming 50th Wedding Anniversary in April. What a beautiful example of a Catholic Marriage we have in our community! We wish you both a very special 50th Anniversary!
In addition, it was so wonderful to see such a big turn out and to see some of our oldest and dearest friends make an appearance! The Search community is so blessed to share in the joys of friendship and love. As we celebrate this month's Follow-Up theme FAITH, HOPE & LOVE may we continue to show each other His Faith, His Hope and His Love by sharing it with others!!!

Hello Searchers,
Just checking in to say we think about you searchers so very often and keep you in our prayers constantly. God has truly blessed Orange County by sending Search here. Although we are back in Cypress, we are not ignoring Search! The fact is, after retiring from nearly 40 years in industry, I'm teaching math and science for 7th and 8th grades at Blessed Sacrament School in Westminster and that is more than a full time job! Yet, it is really great (most of the time!)! It is such a blessing to see the large turnout of candidates. We're in awe at the number who show up for mananitas and closura! Thank God, Search is alive and well in OC! Joe, your Web Page is great! The prayer page is a wonderful & novel idea. We love each and every one of you! Keep up this wonderful work for God!

Wow, this web site is great! I just ran into Murray the other night and it was so great to talk to him about how Search is still alive. I made Search #111 several years back and still have awesome memories of everyone. I saw a few familiar names like the Cones, Tish, Will, Thad and there were so many other great people. I look forward to keeping up with Search via the web. Randy and I have 2 kids these days and boy do they keep us busy! God bless to everyone and may the Lord continue spreading his love through this wonderful organization.

Greetings fellow SEARCHERS! I would like to extend to all of you a Happy New Year and I hope that your Christmas was also blessed.
Joe, you have truly created a web site that is well laid out, graphically attractive and useful all at the same time!!! ( we both know how few of those exist on the web :) It's always great to see someone using their God given talents to do His work as well.
May the good Lord continue to guide us individually and as a Church, granting us each the grace to finish the race.
PEACE....OUT

Hi everybody, I hope you had a great thanksgiving for me
it was very nice time to spend with the family.
Well I have an update about my friend Maria I know some of
you met her unfortunatly I don't have good news last time
I e-mail her she said that she was feeling good but last
night at our YA meeting I found out that she went to the
emergency room and she is very ill they don't know what's
going to happen she means a lot to me and I really miss her.
She has gone throug this before back in '98 she almost lost
her life they found she had cancer but she beat the odds
and came out ok, so I know she is a fighter so waht I'm
asking is to pray for her and her family and that I may soon be able to see her again, ofcourse God willing

Let's all draw strength from eachother during this time of despair and pray for a healing for the many people who were affected by this unfortunate tragedy. Let us come together as one family and pray for those who lost their lives so unecessarily.

Thank you to all Search 128 Team and Krew!! I had such a wonderful and eye-opening experience. I have found a group of people who accept and support me 100%. Since first attending Search events a little over a year ago, I have seen tremendous changes in my attitude, behavior, and goals for my future. Every Searcher and Team member I have met has become a part of my life, a friend and supporter. Thank you again to everyone on 128 and to those I will see for the rest of my time with this group. I love you ALL!!

I think the Prayer page is a great idea. I think it would be helpful if
those who leave a prayer on this page also let us know later what was the
response to that prayer, whatever it was. I think it's important for us
to see that prayer is important and does help. Just a thought.

The Prayer Request list is awesome and a very welcome addition to the wonderful Search OC site! As I've said before, for those of us that are busy with family life and can't make it to Follow Ups, weekends, etc., this is a great way to keep in touch with our Search family! I have personally experienced the power of prayer and know that it makes a difference and I am truly grateful for the Prayer Request List!!!!

Just want to say that Search sounds like a great way to keep walking closely with the Lord. I feel that my family has been tested in our faith much since March 17th when my mom became disabled. (She is back on her feet now and should be home soon as of this writing.) We have had many hospital/medical things in my immediate family since. I know that the Lord is leading me because everytime something happens I seem to have the strength to deal with it. Oh that doesn't mean without crankyness, but we get through! Jesus, Prayer and believing supportive friends and family are the saving power that keeps my heart and soul focusing on Jesus through all that is happening! Remember that "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" Phil. 4:13 Keep the faith going through the wonderful Search program. Know that you are touching many lives!!
